Cuaba Cuban Cigars

Introduction

In 1996, then Habanos president Francisco Linares formally unveiled Cuaba Cuban cigars, and introduced it as a line of handmade, figurado-shaped cigars. At the time, Habanos had decided to revive this old cigar format in the framework of a new marketing strategy.

Figurados were very popular in the early 20th century, fell out of fashion by the 1930s when tastes shifted to parejos, or straight-sided cigars.

The first Cuaba cigars were a bit different in that they were not evenly sized because of a lack of cigar molds. They became collectors’ item when proper molds were finally made a year later.

The Flavors of Cuaba Cigars

Cuaba cigars tend to be complex, but without having one flavor stand out in particular. Smooth and flavoursome, they are on average mild and balanced. But they stand out with their pleasant, almost chocolatey, aromas.

Made with quality tobacco from the Vuelta Abajo region, Cuaba cigars taste very much like Romeo y Julieta cigars, which is not surprising – they are both made at the same factory.

Cuaba Cigars Range

Cuaba has an array of interesting cigars under its name.

Cuaba Diademas cigars, separately wrapped in aluminum foil, have woody and leathery flavors, and are medium-flavored. Made in limited quantities, they’re very easy to smoke in spite of their size.

Cuaba Distinguidos cigars have smooth spicy flavors and very fresh aromas. A popular cigar in the Cuaba line for their rich and wholesome tastes, they are hard to come by.

Cuaba Divinos cigars are the smallest in the bunch, but full of rich aromatic flavors. Uncomplicated and straight-forward, they emit flavors of nuts, moist earth, caramel and wood.

Cuaba Exclusivos cigars are the largest format available in the brand. Very strong flavored, aromas of coffee, pepper and nuts are enhanced through a smooth and even combustion.

Cuaba Generosos cigars are medium-flavored cigars made for veteran cigar connoisseurs. Well-constructed, their delightfully smooth and balanced flavors tantalize the senses.

Cuaba Salomones cigars are another large-sized cigar from this brand. Beautifully made, these full-bodied delights delicately balance its wood and honey flavors to provide a true smoking experience.

Cuaba Tradicionales cigars have strong balanced flavors of chocolate and cedar, that develop with hints of spice and toasted nuts. These are excellent cigars with a surprisingly powerful finish.
