Diplomaticos Cuban Cigars

Introduction

Synonymous with some of the best handmade Cuban cigars, Diplomaticos Cuban cigars have carved a special place with its unique and flavorful blend of quality Vuelta Abajo tobacco. They are one of the few Havana brands still exclusively handmade and represent a very good value.

Diplomaticos were originally marketed to the French market in 1966 as a “less expensive” Montecristo line. In fact, both brands share the same size and naming conventions. However, as its popularity grew Diplomaticos came out from under the shadows of the Montecristo name and established itself as another of the great Cuban brands introduced during the 1960’s.

Although their availability is somewhat limited, the rich and flavorful Diplomaticos taste has nevertheless created a following of cigar aficionados all over the world, who desire and covet this fine Cuban brand.

The Flavors of Diplomatico Cigars

Diplomatico cigars are generally considered to be medium-to-full bodied. The tobacco blend, made to cater to the tastes of French cigar smokers, is milder than that of the Montecristo. As such, Diplomaticos make a good substitute for those unable to enjoy Montecristos on a regular basis.

These premium Cuban cigars generally have a spicy taste with flavors ranging from peppery to moist earth, with some leather and a unique and distinct nuttiness. Like most of the Montecristo line, Diplomaticos Cuban cigars are made at the Jose Marti Factory in Havana.

Diplomaticos are usually less expensive than corresponding Montecristo sizes.

Diplomaticos Cigars Range

In the mid 1970’s Diplomaticos No. 6 and No. 7 were introduced and were the same size as the Montecristo Especial No. 1 and Especial No. 2. However, they were discontinued some years later.
