H. Upmann Cuban Cigars

Introduction

H. Upmann Cuban cigars are one of the oldest and most well-known cigar brands. Founded in 1843 by German brothers Herman and August Upmann, it remains a very popular with a variety of handmade and machine-made cigar lines.

Up until 1922 H. Upmann operated both as a bank and a cigar business. The British firm J. Frankau & Co. took over after both companies failed. In 1935, they sold it to the Menendez y Garcia Company, who resurrected the brand and gave it a renewed international prestige.

Despite the new ownership, to this day every H. Upmann cigar box features a lithograph with Herman Upmann’s signature as well as the seven international awards his brand won in the late 1800s.

The Flavors of H. Upmann Cigars
