Partagas Cuban Cigars
Introduction
Founded in 1845 by Don Jaime Partagas, Partagas Cuban cigars are one of the oldest Cuban brands. Made in the original factory in downtown Havana, they are generally considered as one of the richer cigars out of Cuba. Full-flavored and consistently outstanding, they’re immediately recognizable by their heavy, earthy and honey-sweet flavors.
The diversity of the range contributes to the brand’s reputation. With close to forty different sizes, the quality of Partagas can vary, especially among the machine made vitolas. However, the best cigars are usually very well crafted, almost unequalled in quality.
In 1998, Partagas cigars were being produced in eleven different Cuban factories.
The Flavors of Partagas Cigars
Partagas are characterized as rich, earthy and full-flavoured. Powerfully spicy yet wonderfully complex, they deliver an array of flavors almost as diverse as the range itself. In general, they emit very agreeable aromas and age very well.
Consistently well-crafted, Partagas cigars tend to be relative expensive, especially the very popular Lusitanias. The large number of machine-made sizes are not generally recommended.
Partagas Cigars Range
In spite of a very large range of handmade, machine-made and machine-assisted sizes, the demand for Partagas cigars continually outweighs their supply.
Some of the more in-demand cigars from Partagas include the Partagas Churchills de Luxe, the Partagas Coronas, Partagas Charlottes and the very popular Partagas Lusitanias.
Partagas Lusitanias cigars have been accepted by many smokers as simply the best there is. One of the richest of the brand, fruity flavors balanced by increasingly spicier exotic notes of coffee and cocoa. Despite their large size however, Lusitanias are rather mild for a Partagas.
Partagas Churchills de Luxe cigars have a very nice complexity of light earth, mild spices, slight pepperness with a grassy undertones - a lot of sensations can come when trying these. Strong and full-bodied, they make for great smokes for the expierenced aficionado.
Partagas Coronas cigars are reputed to be one of the strongest from the brand. Their potentcy has softened slightly over the years, they remain smooth, well balanced, top quality cigars. Delivering typical spicy Partagas flavors, they need to be aged for at least 3 to 5 years.
Partagas Charlottes are very good, robust medium-to-full bodied cigars. Slighty complex, with typical spicy and earthy Partagas flavors surrounded by traces of coffee and wood. The taste of these cigars is surprisingly strong for this gauge, and the flavors, very bold.
